On Saturday afternoon there will be things to do but at your own pace and more time for socializing. We will be visiting the towns of Greenfield, Villisca, Shenandoah, Griswold, Atlantic, Walnut, Elkhorn, Lewis, and the Henry A. Wallace Country Life Center east of Orient. Our gathering point is tentatively set for Stuart at the Burger King right on I 80. Departure time would be approximately 9 A.M. The community of Greenfield has been working for several years on restoring their old opera house and also the old Greenfield Hotel. Both are supposed to be finished in time for tours in September. In Villisca we may see the Olsen- Linn museum and the Villisca axe murder house. Shenandoah will be our overnight stop and has the Everly brothers boyhood home. The Rush brothers of Griswold each have a private collection that is pretty impressive. One is right in town and the other is about a mile north of Griswold. Other sites of interest will be the Hitchcock house, a stop on the Underground Railroad, the antique shops in Walnut, (overnight stop), the Danish windmill in Elkhorn and the Henry A. Wallace Country Life Center, (lunch and the end of the tour). Motel information and other information will be coming soon. Any questions please call Kevin Creveling at 641- 344- 8553.
